Strand Outreach 2016

Thanks to a grant of £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme, budding filmmakers and animators had the opportunity to hone their craft this summer. Strand Arts Centre, along with creative industry specialists Giga Training, delivered development programmes in animation, DJing and film making to a range of community groups in East Belfast over the summer of 2016 including Knocknagoney Youth Club and Inner East Youth Club.

The programmes were for ages 14+ and were designed to reflect many aspects of the film making process, from interpreting a client brief to script writing, storyboarding, filming and editing. Each participant learned the skills required for each stage of production and took on a number of roles within the filmmaking team to create their own unique set of edited films which were screened at a gala event at the Strand Arts Centre.
