Community Projects

Mullen Mews and St. Vincent’s Centre

A partnership with Mullen Mews care home and St Vincent’s Centre (a school for behavioural problems) resulted in an intergenerational heritage project which included film screenings, heritage tours, archive screenings and a felt making workshop.

Digital Skills

The Prince’s Trust funded our workshops on filmmaking and script writing that helped to develop skills and increase employability amongst East Belfast’s young people. And thanks to Big Lottery’s Awards for All programme we delivered bespoke digital media courses for 3 high-needs community youth groups, including Knocknagoney Community Centre and Inner East Youth, teaching them new skills, signposting them to the growing creative skills sector in NI and highlighting some local creative talents who are performing on the world stage. We have received really positive feedback from the leaders saying the kids want to learn more.

Fighting Words Belfast

We are working in partnership with Fighting Words Belfast who run a free after-schools club every Tuesday at Skainos for young people interested in creative writing (8-13yrs).  Participants are encouraged to take inspiration from our screenings for their Tuesday Write Club class – open to all.
