Strand Arts Centre was established in 2013 to safeguard the future of Northern Ireland’s oldest cinema. The arts centre is a not-for-profit registered charity. Any surplus income at the end of the financial year is re-invested into the charity.
Like most charities, we have tons of ideas but never enough money to make them a reality! Thanks to our recent ‘Save Beethoven’ campaign, a number of people donated the funds that allowed us to purchase a new digital projector. This has brought Screen 4 up to the same standard as our other three screens, and enabled us to provide more choice in our weekly film programming.
We are also in the early stages of a capital fundraising campaign. This will completely transform our building and the experience for our audiences (while retaining our art deco heritage!). A renovated Strand will have a huge impact within East Belfast with an increase in both the quantity and quality of our arts and film programme, as well as our creative learning and outreach projects in the local community.
