Making all areas of this 1930s building accessible is a key aim of our capital refurbishment plans. Until then, please be aware that the building is not fully accessible.

Screens 1, 3 and 4 are not wheelchair accessible. Screen 2 is wheelchair accessible only via street level entrance on the Holywood Road. Please advise us in advance if possible if you will require access via this entrance.
We have male and female accessible toilets in our upper foyer but there are around four steps up into this foyer from the ground floor.
Our first floor reception area is not wheelchair accessible.

Baby-Friendly Screenings
Responding to demand from the local community, the Strand will be trialling Baby Friendly screenings over the coming months.
These dedicated showings are to offer parents, grandparents and carers the opportunity to escape from the house for a few hours and see a film without the fear of disturbing other cinemagoers.
We hope these screenings will help you to get out of the house, socialise and enjoy the simple pleasure and escapism of a new movie all for just £5. Babies and toddlers go free, of course, and we advise the showings are suitable for children up to 2 years old.

Silver Screenings
Silver Screenings is a great opportunity not just to see a movie classic, but also for people to meet and interact, and enjoy a trip down memory lane. Films are chosen with seniors in mind but open to anyone who loves a classic movie. And we regularly attract residents of local nursing homes for whom a trip to the cinema is the highlight of their week. Tickets £4 including free tea/coffee. Expect musicals, film noir, westerns and lots of Doris Day!
Audience members are given a sheet of ‘talking points’ with notes about the film and the era in which it was made so they can continue the conversation after they have left the venue.
We hope these screenings will help you to get out of the house, socialise and enjoy the simple pleasure and escapism of a new movie all for just £5. Babies and toddlers go free, of course, and we advise the showings are suitable for children up to 2 years old.

Free Minors Club
We have weekly free educational film screenings for children and parents – providing continuity for those who remember being brought to the Strand by their own parents for the Saturday morning Minors Club in the 50s and 60s.
The screenings are free, and are accompanied by handouts on the film, ensuring access for any family wishing to attend regardless of income.

Global Film Screenings
Our regular cultural film programme features new or classic titles accompanied by an introduction, Q&A or discussion. These Global Film Screenings champion films from different cultures in a relaxed and informative way, and promotes inclusion by giving minority voices a platform to share their cultural experiences. Supported by JoinHer Network and Beyond Skin.
